Bonding aerated concrete blocks with MultiClips®: how it works

Finishing a wall with plaster is one thing. But you can also ensure the flattest possible surface while building. In this blog, you will read why the placement of aerated concrete blocks affects the finish, and how MultiClips® help with this.

What are MultiClips®?

MultiClips® are tools for aligning aerated concrete blocks with each other while building a wall. You use them together with wedges. The goal is to gain more control over the flatness of the wall during construction.

Why small differences between aerated concrete blocks matter

In aerated concrete walls, small differences between the blocks cause unevenness. These must be compensated for later during finishing. The more precisely the blocks are positioned relative to each other, the better the foundation for the finish.

Prevention instead of correction

While placing the blocks, you check regularly, for example with a spirit level. That remains important. In addition, you can also gain more control over the relative position of the blocks while placing them.

MultiClips® were developed for this purpose. You use the clips together with wedges. This allows you to align the blocks relative to each other during construction. The goal: as uniform a wall as possible before the finisher starts.

How to work with MultiClips®

MultiClips® are intended for bonding aerated concrete blocks that are 5, 7, and 10 cm thick.

  1. Apply the block adhesive.
  2. Place the clips with the stop against the back.
  3. Place the next block.
  4. Tighten the clips at the front with a wedge.
  5. After hardening, break off the protruding parts along the break lines. The center piece remains between the blocks.

Use at least 3 clips per block. You can reuse the wedges.

Less correction afterwards

With a tighter foundation, less correction may be needed during finishing. How much that makes a difference varies per project, wall, and working method.

The principle is simple: what is already properly aligned during construction does not need to be straightened again later. Read more tips in Building a flat aerated concrete wall: start with the first block.
